Dykes Library, the Division of Student Success & Student Life (3SL), the General Student Scholarship fund or other scholarships and programs - provide critical support that benefits students across all colleges and programs. Gifts to these funds help the university respond to student needs, expand campus initiatives, and create opportunities that support learning, leadership and success for the entire Gator community.

Texas Parks & Wildlife estimates there are roughly 400-500K alligators in Texas, with high concentrations in the coastal wetlands surrounding Houston. Their local presence, resilience and ferocity led early students to select them as UHD's mascot. For a gift of $19.74 (honoring our founding year) or more to the UHD Annual Fund, you can give one of these campus icons a name—and make a life-changing difference for UHD students. When you name a gator, you’ll receive a personalized digital certificate recognizing your generosity and featuring your gator's special name. Display it with pride - your support lives on in the legacy of our campus! Your gift also grants you the "unofficial authority" to point at any gator in White Oak or Buffalo Bayous and address it by its new name. Just don’t expect them to come when called! While this naming opportunity is symbolic, your impact is very real. Every named gator helps a real gator thrive.
