Gator Giving Day

Twenty-four hours to spread the good news about how great UHD is and invite investment in our future. Alumni, Faculty, Staff Students and friends come together to show our Gator spirit and the power of our collective giving. Gifts will support colleges, department and unit priorities throughout the university.

Giving Days excite and incentivize donors to invest in UHD while educating about the importance of private gifts.  Philanthropy is crucial to UHD's success, funding scholarships, improving programs and providing hands-on learning and research opportunities for current Gators.

Private charitable gifts play a critical role in the University of Houston-Downtown’s success. The gator community funds scholarships for students who otherwise would not be able to attend college, supports the University’s faculty, programs and facilities and enables hands-on learning and research opportunities for students. Giving back is one of the most incredible things we can do for our university and future Gators. Every donation, whether you give $5 or $500, makes a difference.

Click on the “Give Now” button at the top of this website. The Giving Day website will track gifts in real time, letting you see the progress of giving for each school or unit and updates for matches and challenges. 

Sign up to be a Gator Giving Day Ambassador.  This special group of social media ambassadors serve as representatives of the University leading up to, and especially on Gator Giving Day.

Ambassadors share campaign content on their social media sites and send emails/texts to their networks.

Key donors provide matching funds to multiply the impact of your gift. When you donate, the matching donor will match 1:1 up to the awarded amount. For example, a $100 gift will be worth $200 to the fund of your choice with a dollar-for-dollar match. You're making double the difference!

Challenges set goals based on specific criteria and provide rewards for completion. For example, when a CPS student votes for one of three Fundraising Priorities in the College of Public Service, Dean Jose Ricardo Osorio will donate a dollar to that priority.

Yes! If you would like to sponsor a match or a challenge, we’d love to hear from you and work with you to make the match or challenge a success.

Absolutely. Gator Giving Day is integrated into the UH System’s online giving platform, which utilizes Touchnet and is PCI Level 1-compliant. When making a gift during Gator Giving Day, you are just as secure as making an online gift to the University of Houston-Downtown.

To make a gift by mail, please make your check or money order payable to the University of Houston-Downtown and send it to the address below. Please be sure to include “Gator Giving Day ” in the memo line.

Yes! Note, if you receive any goods or services in return for your gift, such as auction items or tickets, the fair market value of those items is not tax deductible.

Contributions to UH System are subject to IRS Code sections 170(b)(1)(A)(ii) and 170(b)(1)(A)(v).

Please ensure that you have selected your desired department or program, the correct fund designation and appropriate gift amount, and that you have entered all information for all required fields. It’s up to you! You may designate your gift to any area of the University that is important to you. Whether your heart is with your college or school, or you have an interest in a specific research initiative or student program at UHD, you are free to choose what your gift supports. When you make your gift, you can select from a list of colleges, schools and units to show your support.
